Every. Vote. Counts. (For SXSW)
August 13th, 2008
Yes, you should vote in the upcoming presidential election. But you should ALSO vote in SXSW’s Interactive Panel Picker. And in particular, if you feel so inclined, you should vote for Geno and his “Offline Isn’t Dead: How to Integrate Online Strategies” topic so the Brains on Fire crew can join the party in Austin next year.
Here’s the description in the Community/Social Networks category:
“Studies show 92 percent of word of mouth branding happen offline. Yet many companies focus on attracting customers online. How can companies work to integrate offline strategy to support online efforts? This discussion will highlight brands that have successfully integrated customers online and offline and give tips on how to recognize fan engagement opportunities.”
In other words, we know that A LOT of talk will be going on about online applications and technologies at SXSW (as it should), but we’re taking a different spin on things and would like to have a discussion about how online can support offline and vise-versa.
There’s a very short registration page to jump over before you can vote. Voting closes at the end of the month, and we’d truly appreciate the support since 30% of the total score comes from YOUR votes. There are SO many great entries this year, but with your help, we’ll see you in Austin!

I am not surprised that “Studies show 92 percent of word of mouth branding happen offline.” I think that’s right on the money. Where did you find those numbers?

Funny how you blog this while Geno “wows” 100 or so techies at a GSATC lunch by speaking on this very topic. You may bring in those votes quicker than you think!
Then again - getting a bunch of east coast techies to register for the show, well . . . that could be a tall order after all.
