Seriously funny.

So — yeah. Friday Joe decided to practice what we preach.
From the Brains on Fire Tequila Shots: 12 Things to Believe in book: (You can download the entire thing from the Flash Papers to the right if you’re interested.)
“If it ain’t fun, we must be doing it wrong. This could apply to a lot of things in life. But we think it applies to work just as much as anything. We need to constantly ask ourselves, “is this fun?” If it’s not then let’s find a way to add a little fun to what we’re doing. Sometimes work can really become work and when it gets that way - well it usually ain’t too fun. So, let’s make it as fun as it can be. Heck sometimes we can even put down the work - and just go have some. The work will be better when we get back.”
Oscar Wilde was spot on when he said: “Life is too important to be taken seriously.” Why not challenge yourself to have some serious fun today?

Good post Robbin - I have definitely seen the work around me get punished by the stress/seriousness of the environment in a few of my positions. Sometimes it is just good for the soul to get out and play for a while!
I’m a little disappointed you all weren’t filming that the day I came by and visited though. Maybe next time.

Hi Whit!
Play IS great for the soul! As someone who works intensely and tends to get absorbed in what I am doing, I have to stop and remind myself of this one often. I’m lucky to be surrounded by folks who make finding fun pretty easy.

Not only do I agree but so does research…Fun makes you more creative and more engaged. Check out the new study from University of Florida.

“The study also found that having fun at work increases employees’ job engagement, which encourages them to be more creative, Fluegge Woolf said. “When you’re really attuned to what you’re doing, it closely resembles this idea of flow and the result is a greater level of creativity,” she said.

Gotta stick with the video till the very end- when Mr. Steve says ‘I don’t know how this works with a guy with no neck’.
