CMO Job Responsibilities

January 18th, 2008

Make dreams come true
The Golden Ticket to every attraction
Keep a Dream Blog
Spread magic and inspiration in random communities
Talk magic-making with members of the media

The above is just a taste of the responsibilities that a very lucky Disney fan will fulfill as the CMO (Chief Magic Officer) for Disney. Disney extended “The Year of a Million Dreams” into 2008 and I can’t think of a bigger dream for us Disney fanatics. If your interested in the job and who wouldn’t, you better get going. You need to visit dreamcom.com take the Magic Aptitude Test and submit a 60-second video resume. Good luck. I’m trying to convince our resident BOF Disney expert Steve to apply. Happy Dreams.

And just when I thought my level of Disney excitement could not get any higher due to my impending vacation! I’m dizzy with thoughts of impending power that could come with being Disney’s CMO! (BTW…I took the quiz and I’m a “Cinderella”…proof that I’m a shoo-in for the job.) :)

I’m still mulling it over…on one hand, I already have a pretty killer job…
and on the other white-gloved, three-fingered hand, this really would be a dream come true. The opportunity to bring the Disney magic to complete strangers is something that ALL of us crazy Disney fanatics dream of…heck, we all already do it. Check out some of the good Disney World fan sites…you’ll find thousands of people who are dedicating hours each day simply giving advice to newbies about Disney World vacations. It’s a compulsion. We want to share what has brought us such incredible joy (and when we do share it, we usually get positive responses when they come back from Disney World…another very important key to WOM). When you’re headed back to your hotel, it’s almost impossible to avoid talking with a complete stranger about what you did and what they recommend.

It’s an addiction. And not an easily explained one. Sure, there are those that see Disney as a massive media conglomerate bent on jellying the minds of our youth, but that isn’t what I see. What I see is a company that makes billions of dollars, but returns a priceless experience. It’s a company of nostalgia and magic.

So, as I get down from my high horse, I will say that this is a fantastic way for Disney to reach out to its fans…and it’s proof that they are paying attention to their fans. If I enter, I’ll let you all know, so you can vote for me. If I don’t, come to me for Disney World advice…I need my fix.

Okay Steve. Go for it. You can work on Sat, Sunday and holidays. And still keep this killer job.

And Geno, you have a new title in my mind — Chief Magic Officer at Brains on Fire.

Yeah, that’s it. You do all this and more:
Make dreams come true (well, okay sort of..)
The Golden Ticket to every attraction (does it get better than Thursday night Rock Band at Brains on Fire?)
Keep a Dream Blog (read by thousands of fans)
Spread magic and inspiration in random communities (I hear you spreading some inspiration right now!)
Talk magic-making with members of the media (well, you know you do!)
