Caution: pro bono publico client plugging ahead

Justice for Children International (who has a big announcement on October 1), the organization created to abolish worldwide child sex trafficking, is our pro bono client. Yeah, we’ve talked about them before, and not only because it’s the worthiest cause you could fathom, but because they are just good people as well.

Well, Rob Morris, the President of JFCI, sent us this email on Friday:

We received great news this week. Justice for Children International was selected by MySpace as one of three finalists for their MySpace Impact Award for the Social Justice category. MySpace users will now select a winner from among the three finalists. The finalist who gets the most votes by midnight, September 21st will win a cash prize of $10,000, as well as a featured placement on MySpace for a month, reaching over 75 million active members. Promotion will be on both the home page of MySpace.com (one week) and in the MySpace Impact Award Community (for one month) within the site. All this to say…please take a moment to vote for us. (You can vote once per day). And if possible, ask your friends and networks to do the same. Not only would $10,000 be very helpful in our work to abolish child sex slavery and exploitation, but this a great opportunity to create a HUGE amount of awareness about the issue. (Which is half the battle). Thanks for participating with us in this!!

Again… we have until September 21st to accumulate votes.

Here is the link to vote: http://www.myspace.com/impactawards.

Look, I usually don’t do this on our blog. Any by “this” I mean encourage you to go vote for something. But as much as we’d all like to block it from our minds, child sex trafficking exists. If you need some inspiration, check out Rob’s story here. Then take action. Help elevate a cause that is more than a cause.

Two children per minute are trafficked for sexual exploitation. That’s unacceptable in my world. I hope you feel the same.

Congratulations! While Justice for Children didn’t take the award, another fabulous movement featured by Geno sure did! Either way, BoF’ers prove that they have their hearts and minds in the right place.

For those of you who missed it, here’s Geno’s post: To Write Love on Her Arms.
