Rock Chalk, Jayhawk, Go Citizen Marketers

September 12th, 2007

Our own Young Gun, Joe, pointed me to this site yesterday.

Apparently this Kansas University student isn’t too happy with the font change on the college basketball and football uniforms. In fact, he’s set out on a quest of “Preserving a typographic tradition.”

shirtimgplace.jpgThe old font was a “curling, arc-serifed typeface” while the new font is Trajan…which this student thinks sucks. So he did something about it. He created a website. Printed t-shirts and rallied the disenfranchised students, alumni and fans.

Power to the people because now the people have the power. And movements start in the strangest places. The thing that they all have in common? Passion. Passion that can’t be faked by any ad campaign. Any marketing ploy. Or any buzz event.

And that, my friends, is a beautiful thing.
