Welcome Home

June 25th, 2007

Apologies for my blogging absence, but I was in Paris last week for business, and I think that’s a good excuse, eh? It was truly a great trip. Great people. Great food. Great culture.

And as I came back through customs in NY, the officer checked my papers, gave me the stamp, then looked up from his seat and said, “Welcome home.”

Very cool.

And that’s how it should be with companies and their most passionate customers. When they pick up your product, call your customer service or enter your store, it’s like they’re home. It’s that feeling of comfort. That they know what to expect (in a good way). That they are so comfortable with you that they tell others. Sure, it might sound a little corny, but it’s the difference between being just another company that blends in with the noise and being a company that people don’t want to live without.

So before you start that new marketing initiative, maybe you should try the Welcome Home test.
