World class customer service
May 17th, 2007
Is that something that you tell people your company stands for? Hmm. You and about 21 million other companies. Because when you Google that phrase, you’re buried under a mountain of world-class claims.
Talk about a tired phrase. And, apparently, the price of admission these days.
So find something else. Come on, your customer deserves something better than to be beaten and battered with meaningless corporate-speak. So think of something that fits into your identity and speaks to your specific customer. And then own it. Make it so you, that it sounds ridiculous when others try to copy it. That’s the sign that you’re speaking to your own in your own, authentic voice and not trying to go along with the crowd. Because that’s what they are: a crowd.

Spike,
You got it, my friend. Don’t tell people you provide great customer service. Provide great customer service. In fact, I apply that rule to most of my client’s content and marketing materials. Don’t talk about your business; talk about your clients and how you will meet their wants and needs.
