K-Fed, the Google-Killer?
March 20th, 2007
In the most absurd online media news since Vanilla Ice hosted an online competition inviting consumers to rap about tax time, Kevin Federline has launched his own Yahoo-powered search engine to promote whatever it is that he promotes these days. And unlike Google search, which gives you nothing in return for your search but pesky relevant data, each search on Kevin’s page enters you for a chance to win tickets to Kevin’s “Private” Birthday Party. Real fans can add this as a plug in to their Firefox or IE to add to the search with Kevin convenience.
Now that every Tom, Dick & presidential candidate has a MySpace site and YouTube spoofs, is skinning search the next branded online advertising frontier? Is Kevin Federline a marketing groundbreaker of sorts? I’m not sure I can admit that just yet. If you know of other absurdities, please share with the class…

Oh, if only to know the list of sites that K-Fed picked for his customized search engine. Wait. I really don’t want to know that.
Here’s what I’ve heard pitched:
“Harness the power of Google search to create a free Custom Search Engine that reflects your knowledge and interests. Specify the websites that you want searched - and integrate the search box and results into your own website. ”

Google sinks on my list of favorite companies, only because Federline figured it out.
