The Governor’s School

Another entry in our long-standing love affair with YouTube…

SCGSAH.jpgPeople are often surprised when I tell them that Greenville, SC is home to two arts high schools - The Fine Arts Center and The Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities. Who would have guessed that this little Southern city would be such a haven for arts education? Well… as one would expect… I have some good friends who work down the road at The Governor’s School… and they have just recently made their first YouTube excursion when they posted their recruiting video. The video in and of itself isn’t over the top clever or anything - certainly not “one of those cool viral things.” It’s just a straightforward portrait of some of the exceptional experiences of their exceptional students.

It turns out that’s just exceptional enough.

The video has almost 800 views in the month it has been up, and judging from the reaction of three girls who attend the school upon hearing about the YouTube post… I’m pretty certain it’s showing up on MySpace profiles all over the place. The kids in the video are sharing it.  The kids who know the kids in the video are sharing it.  It’s an example of an extraordinary product letting its most passionate customers do the talking… all they had to do was give them the tool and the opportunity.
