Off To South Africa

Early moring landing

Monday March 5 Johannesburg
After a 10 hour flight from London I’m here. I also owe a big thanks to Nadine’s aunt (Justin’s girlfriend) Rondele for picking me up at the airport and then drving me to Sandton. I have to say I’m very impressed with SAA (South African Airways). Very clean plane and excellent service. Lots of nice touches too. Like a plastic travel goodie bag with eye mask, footies and a toothbrush and toothpaste. I also had a little bit of luck with the flight almost empty. I had three empty seats across. Which made for a perfect bed. I’m still suffering a bit from sleep so I hope to get caught up tonight before the conference starts. I’m going to try to link my flickr photostream here, so my photos can be viewed. Well off to practice my speech and get some sleep.
Sunday March 4 London
Leaving Dulles was crazy. My United flight was drastically overbooked, people were throwing things, crying, it was a mess. I was one of the lucky ones exit row window seat, lots of leg room and 3 movies. Well the best of plans can get screwy, so far I’ve had a lot of issues in London. Transit lines are down this morning and its rainy and foggy. Well I guess that’s London. I’m making the best of it. After 5 hours sleep. I’m off. Hope to post again today with something interesting but today looks gloomy. Update Well 3 hours walking around London was fun but frustrating. As I was walking around my Leica Camera banged around in my bag and turned itself on. So when I got to the Millennium Bridge my battery was dead. Do I suck or what. Lesson learned battery out until ready to use. Now for some good news. My Sprint cell service is a no go here in London. So I tried Skype for the first time. Wow does it rock, perfect connection and the sound quality was awesome. For VeeDub I had a celeb sighting. I’ll give you a hint, Ice Man. Talk to you guys soon.
Saturday March 3
For those of you not in the BOF family, I’m heading to Johannesburg, SA today for the Customer Management World Africa Conference. I plan to keep updating in this blog to stay in touch with my family (Jenn and Kenzie) and my other family you crazy BOFers. I hope to share my journey from London to JoBurg to Sabi Sands with pictures and I hope interesting stories.

Opportunities like this are not possible without the support of a great team. Carrie, Billy, Joe and Jack you guys ROCK and I can’t wait to see the final stuff for RAGE later next week. Robbin and the Greg’s you guys are fearless leaders, thanks for allowing me to take this journey. And finally to Jenn and Kenzie, I miss you guys already. Give each other a hug for me next week.

Well guys its time to board. See you on the other side of the Atlantic.

South Africa Blog Roll

I think this is some interesting stuff, here’s a couple of SA Blogs I’ve been reading to get a feel of the conversations going on in SA. Tread lightly if your of the sensitive type:) Jo’Blog is the work of Rich a friend of John Moore’s. And Cherryflava is the creation of Jon Cherry, check them both out. Lots of style and fun stuff to read.

Hey G! Glad all is well. Careful how you word things. You’re making it sound like Nadine’s aunt is my g-friend ;)
