Benefits

November 14th, 2006

Our own Mr. Steve - Guest Services - directed me to this article today.  It ran a few months ago, but I think it’s worth bringing up.  What is it?  It’s a list of some of the above-and-beyond benefits that companies across the US offer to their employees.  From a fully stocked fishing pond to surprise international trips to bail bonds… it’s about companies finding unique and authentic ways to appreciate their employees.  It’s just a great reminder that, to be truly successful, your employees have to be your advocates.  You can’t establish a network of external advocates without building a base of them internally - otherwise, once the external advocates get to see inside, there’s nothing there to continue to engage them.

Of course companies should take care of their employees, of course employees are your most valuable asset.  I would like to believe that that just goes without saying.  But taking the extra step to show your appreciation in a way that is true to the values that the company hopes to foster and share with its employees… that’s when you create authentic internal advocates… and something truly special can be built.

P.S. This is in no way a thinly veiled attempt to get Brains on Fire to send me on an all-expenses-paid European tour.  {grin}

    P.S. This WAS a thinly veiled attempt to get Brains on Fire to buy me a case of beer and put in a fishing pond in the lobby. And maybe a roller coaster.
