I will not vote for anyone running a negative ad. Therefore, I will not vote at all.

But it's measurable. Every campaign in the history of US politics has turned on bad news....the polls don't change very quickly when the unemployment rate increases by .3%....but one of your old army buddies says you were kinda lazy, and suddenly you've lost the election. It seems like they're trying to get the biggest bang with their buck, and the "Polled" public seems to react strongest to negative campaign ads. The only way this will change is for us to stop buying their product. There are politicians out there trying to do the right thing, and maybe we'll learn to accept good people into the world of politics instead of loud people. I'm not asking them to stop shouting...just start shouting something I want to hear.

I assume when you say "slammed" you mean when company or person X makes a direct message aimed at, in a negative way, company or person Y.

If that's the case, I definitely agree, it's proposterous. I've often wondered whether these are just poorly misguided campaigns where really all they are wanting to do is a branding type thing where they establish the main difference between their competitor. Much like the "un-cola" idea. Then I figure that can't be the case, because surely they've got someone in their staff who has more knowledge than a college student.

AMEN! It hurts my head to watch TV around election time, and I will be absolutely thrilled for November 7 to be in the past. The ads don't motivate me to get out there and vote... and they sure don't motivate me to get out there and vote FOR anyone. You spend too much time attacking each other... you forget to speak to the actual audience. Hmmm...

My husband and I were talking about that last night when we had to start muting the commercials to save ourselves from getting completely irritated. You are absolutely right, all it does is make them look bad and make me look away.
