Dear Maria Shriver,

December 6th, 2005

I recently received your form letter response. And I admit, the letter I wrote you was an experiment. I had been reading some articles and seeing the interviews about your new initiative in California to create a movement for battling obesity. And because of the WOM success we’ve had with Rage Against the Haze – South Carolina’s youth led anti-tobacco movement - I thought we might be able to join forces and lend some insight.

So I started my journey to reach out to you just like any of your constituents would – I wrote a letter. And here’s what I got back:

Dear Mr, Jones,

Thank you so much for your thoughtful letter. I appreciate you taking the time to share your important message.

Since the beginning of the Administration, I have been continuously amazed at the remarkable strength, courage and resilience of Californians across the state.

It is an honor to serve as First Lady. Once again, thank you for writing.

Best,
Maria Shriver

That’s great. But I live in South Carolina.

Should we expect a company (or an administration) to answer every request they receive? Where should the line be drawn? Do those that yell the loudest get tended to first?

Um, Maria, I don’t think you love me anymore.

I know this is somewhat juvenile, but if you do an image search on Google for “Crypt Keeper” you get some interesting results.

I have translated Maria’s reply into plain English so all can understand:

    Hasta la vista, baby!
