Hey, your recipe box looks like an iPod

August 19th, 2005

In an article by ClickZ Network, Kraft Foods now has a free widget you can download onto your iPod that will allow the user to carry a library of over 100 recipes with them. So when you’re in the grocery store, you just pull out your trusty iPod to reference those needed ingredients.

This reminds me of an old Business 2.0 article where they tried to predict what the future generations of iPods will be capable of. Their ideas included iPod cameras and phones, among other things, all of which are not to far off from becoming a reality. But outside of Apple, as the popularity of the little white box that could increases and floods the mainstream, were going to see more ideas like what Kraft is doing.

It’s another example of Guy Kawasaki’s theory that in order for true customer evangelism to spread, you must let “a thousand flowers bloom.” In other words, don’t put your product out there and dictate to the public what to use it for. People are resourceful and imaginative. They’ll find new ways to use your product that you never even considered.

And they’re in control, anyway.
