Quickie: GM and Krystal Burger

May 31st, 2005

Krystal Burger (famous for their bite-size, square burgers) has introduced a giant, round “B.A. Burger” into their line-up. May I ask why? Take a page from the Hardee’s turn-around and pick one thing. And then do it better than anyone else.

In other news, General Motors has decided to mark every car it makes with a “GM badge.”

“The GM badge will take the form of a silver square, embossed with the GM logo, placed on both sides of the vehicle on an appropriate location between the front and rear wheels above the rocker and below the glass belt line.”

Yes, the new eyesore will be on all 2006 Chevys, Saturns, Hummers, Pontiacs, Buicks, GMCs, Saabs and Cadillacs.

Boo to that! and I thought that GM and my family could have a lasting legacy of happiness together. What are they thinking?! Do you have a visual for us as to what this will look like on the vehicle?

Seeing the Krystal firm mentioned on the Brains on Fire Blog is just about the funniest thing I’ve seen in a long time.

About fourty years ago, Bobby Davenport Sr. (deceased) went to Madison Avenue to hire an ad agency for Krystal.

    He spent a fortune.

When the execs called him into their office to show him the presentation, he was confronted with a frankenstein monster head with the top of the head cut off.

The ad slogan they pitched him was “Eat your brains out for a buck”. Apparently there were hamburgers where the brains should be.

Mr. Davenport went back to his hotel and got drunk. Not his usuall M.O., but what else are you gonna do?

He went home the next day, and abandoned all notions of hiring an ad agency for any of his subsequent business ventures (which were numerous and profitable).
