Sony’s unlikely fans

May 17th, 2005

It seems that hackers have embraced the Sony PSP (the handheld portable gaming system) and have been exploiting loopholes to talk to people over IRC in Wi-Fi environments, to transfer shows recorded on TiVo to their PSP and to even read e-books. There have been consistent and numerous requests for Sony to partner with developers for the creation of open source software, none of which the electronices giant has answered.

It’s yet another case of Kawasaki’s “100 flowers blooming” whether you like it or not. In other words, your customers may not use your product for what it’s intended for. And that’s okay.
